Route description

The walk starts near Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq and follows coastal roads and paths along the shoreline, with open views across the rocky coast and the Mediterranean Sea. After leaving the immediate seafront area, the route turns inland and climbs gradually towards the Victoria Lines, passing through a mix of rural tracks and garigue terrain. Along this section, several viewpoints offer wide panoramas across valleys and the northern coastline. The route then follows sections of the Victoria Lines trail, passing historic military features and limestone ridges before descending again towards the coast. The final part of the walk leads back towards Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq along quieter roads and paths, completing a circular route of approximately six kilometres.

Practical advice

This route includes a mixture of paved roads, rural tracks and rocky paths, with uneven ground and sections close to exposed drops along the Victoria Lines. Careful footing is required throughout, especially on limestone surfaces that can become slippery after rain. Large parts of the walk are exposed with little shade, so walkers should carry sufficient drinking water and use sun protection. Walkers should remain on established paths, avoid unstable cliff edges and respect restricted or private areas, particularly around military structures. Due to the length and varied terrain, this walk is best suited to reasonably fit and confident walkers and should be avoided in poor weather or strong winds.
